WIMBLEDON MEN’S FINAL 2013: ANDY MURRAY

On Sunday TFW was very, VERY lucky to be invited to Wimbledon for the men’s finals.  Now, here at TFW we are tennis fans on the best of days but become somewhat fanatical over Wimbledon so to be in SW19 on any given match day is a treat, to be there on finals day is insane and to be there on the day a male Brit wins for the first time in 77 years, by straight sets no less, was nothing short of incredible.

Sunday started well with blistering sunshine and no threat that rain would spoil play.  We were lucky enough to be treated to Wimbledon hospitality where we could seek a little respite from the heat and maybe grab a glass or two… I have to say, I can’t even begin to imagine playing one game of tennis, let alone over three hours of it, in that weather; particularly against a Djokovic serve that at one point hit 127mph…

Anyway, play he did and, as we all know, Andy Murray did what has evaded many a male Brit and took home the title.  So, I shall keep this post brief as the nation knows the outcome – nearly 20m of us watched the match (match statistics can be found in all their glory here).   What we really want is to see pictures of the man himself (with the hardware) so here they are.  That said, for perhaps the best “trophy” shot of the championships, head on over to twitter to see what Andy’s pooch Maggie May thought of it all @Maggiemay_hem (the campaign starts here to get #wimbledogs trending for next year).
